Dear Fellow Rotarians,

This is not just a Rotary conference – this is an 1170 conference with real bite!

For the first time our District conference has a central theme – the challenge that illiteracy poses to individuals and to communities in the UK and around the globe. We have an outstanding list of speakers from the world of literature, academia, education and Rotary. Keynote speaker Ann Widdecombe is guaranteed to be absorbing and Denise Leigh’s amazing singing voice will delight you. Many of you will already know RI and RIBI Representative Ray Burman who is sure to entertain and challenge.

The weekend will, of course, be fun with an opportunity to let your hair down. Dress up as a character from literature if you wish for Friday night’s dancing with cabaret. Saturday’s Gala Dinner is a five course extravaganza with dancing to the ever popular ‘Band of Gold’ and a cabaret with a difference. The conference hotel facilities include an excellent pool and snooker with golf nearby. There will be reflexology sessions and a chance to explore the wildlife of the Dawlish Warren nature reserve. There will be a District golf competition at Teignmouth Golf Club on Thursday with dinner to follow.

This really is an opportunity for a relaxing, informative and fun weekend amongst Rotary friends old and new.

Yours in Rotary Friendship
